SSL Certificates for Everyone!

Studio Whitby Blog

Next month we will be issuing SSL certificates to all our web hosting customers, completely free of charge! an SSL certificate securely encrypts the connection between a web browser and our server and includes the padlock icon in the browser address bar along with https:// before the domain name. An SSL certificate will also help promote your website in search results and improve SEO, customer engagement and trust.

Starting in 2017 Google is encouraging all websites to use a https connection, websites that collect credit card information or request passwords will be labeled as non-secure in the Google Chrome browser, with a long term plan to mark all websites that don’t include an SSL certificate as non-secure. HTTPs will soon become the norm on all business websites and will be expected from your clients and customers, so rather than charge extra or apply these to only our mid or high tier hosting packages - we’re issuing SSL certificates for everyone.

If we already host your website you don’t need to do anything, we’ll contact you once your SSL certificate is live on your domain name. If we don’t host your site why not check out our fully managed hosting packages - all free for 12 months when included in a web design and development project.
